👩‍🎨 Studio thoughts:

I named the piece Custos,a Latin word meaning "guardian" or "protector". I was drawn to it for this reason because I hope the viewer can feel the quiet strength in the love between the two. This Valentine’s, I’m exploring all loves, not just romantic love. The kind of love that doesn’t need to announce itself, because it’s deeply rooted.

In this mare and foal painting, there’s a sense of staying close, of being held, guided, and kept safe. That relationship felt like the heart of this piece, and the name Custos seemed to capture it perfectly.

The colour palette was kept soft and warm, allowing space for a calm feeling whilst still holding depth and detail through the use of my brush markings.

✨ About the limited edition prints:

Crafted on weighty cotton rag with a slightly textured matte finish, each print is produced using twelve archival pigment inks to preserve every nuance of the original painting. The result is a museum-grade reproduction that is timeless, vibrant, and designed to last up to 200 years.

Every piece has an identifying number and is hand-signed on the front. This print run is limited edition - once sold out, it won't be available again. There are 5 pieces available in each size. Prints will be marked out of 5

Please note these prints do not come mounted or framed. Mounting is available as a add on.

 

✨ How are fine art prints created?

All prints are produced using a professional fine art printer and printed on archival fine art paper. The inks used are specialist pigment inks, not standard printer inks, which means the colours stay rich and true over time.

These prints are designed to last. When stored in a photo album, they can last up to 200 years. When displayed behind normal glass in natural light, they can last around 80 years before any noticeable fading.

Please take a moment to look at the texture and detail in the images. The paper has a beautiful finish that really holds the depth and softness of the original work.

A2 prints have a slightly longer lead time, as they are printed at a specialist fine art lab in London. Please allow around 1 to 2 weeks for dispatch.

When searching for a frame, look for the size listed above without mounting, for example, “12 x 16 frame no mount.” Framing is simple. Just remove the protective sleeve and place the print straight into your chosen frame.

✨ Postage:

All prices include free UK delivery. For international A3 orders outside of the EU, please note that prints will arrive unmounted. They will be carefully packaged with a protective backboard, cellophane sleeve, and ribbon. This is due to increased postage costs once parcels exceed a certain size. Mini prints and A4 prints will arrive mounted as standard. A2 prints are sent rolled in a protective tube to ensure they arrive safely. Thank you for your understanding and support.
