Original Colour Study "Fox and Magpie" (Copy
I'm delighted to be releasing this original piece. It’s a mixed media study painted in watercolour, pen, and coloured pencil, capturing a quiet moment between a fox in a playful mid-leap and a grounded, watchful magpie.
This was one of the first studies in a new series where I started thinking more deeply about energy and presence in animals, how they move without hesitation, how they hold themselves without effort.
The fox feels playful and in motion, while the magpie is still and steady- a quiet balance between movement and pause.
I didn’t overwork this piece. The marks are loose and instinctive. I let the materials guide the pace.
Painted on 16" x 20" St Cuthberts Mill watercolour paper.
